Massimo Spiga graduated from the Conservatory “G. P. da Palestrina” of Cagliari (Italy) and the “High Performance Musical School” of Saluzzo (Italy), studying with the teachers Pierre Thibaud and Raffi Glaser (1st Trumpet of the Symphonic Orchestra of Israel). He studied also for several years under the direction of Sandro Verzari (1st Trumpet of the RAI, soloist and author of numerous books for trumpet). In 1984 began his professional career having performed numerous concerts with different international musicians in several European countries, USA, Latin America and Africa, with various chamber groups and with different orchestras, including: RAI Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Palermo, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (USA), Symphony Orchestra Do Norte (Portugal), Orchestra Lirico-Sinfonica di Cagliari, Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, Brass Quintet “Azores-Brass”, Big Band “Angra-Jazz” Azores, “Teatro Angrense Orchestra” Azores (covering the 1st Trumpet from 1994 to 2002). He performed on television programs with various broadcasters such as RAI (Italy), RTP, RDP (Portugal), RTP-I (Canada), RTP-A (Africa), TV-Globo and Canal-13 (Brazil). Frequently he is invited to do masterclasses and workshops in different countries. Now he is trumpet professor at the State Conservatory of Cagliari (Italy) and continuing the activities of trumpet player.
